An independent reference for travellers who need mobile data abroad. It sells nothing, resells nothing, and is not a carrier. This page states what it is, how it is made, what it refuses to publish, and how it intends to earn — before it earns anything.
The Roam Index documents the parts of travel connectivity that are stable enough to be stated accurately: which devices support eSIM, which regional model variants are the exceptions, how activation works end to end, and what goes wrong when it fails. It is a reference, not a shop and not a review site.
The editorial rule is narrow and load-bearing: a claim is published only if it can be traced to a named source and dated. Device and activation facts come from the manufacturers' own support documentation — Apple, Samsung, Google — and provider documentation where a provider's behaviour is at issue. Retailer listings, aggregated third-party compatibility databases and unattributed round-ups are not used as sources.
It publishes no eSIM price comparisons. Providers change prices without notice, expose no structured data to read them from, and price each currency independently. Any price table here would show stale figures as though they were current — a false claim, however unintentional. So none is offered, and this reference covers the things that do not change weekly instead.
It publishes no reviews, ratings, testimonials or user counts. This site has run no tests of its own and has no users to quote. Inventing any of that — a star rating, a "chosen by X travellers" figure, a trust badge — would be fabrication, and none appears anywhere on this site.
It makes no first-person experiential claims. Nothing here is written as "tested" or "tried" by anyone, because nothing here was. Where a page describes what a device does, it is describing what the manufacturer documents that the device does, and says so with a link.
The Roam Index is produced with AI by an automated publishing system, with human review. Research, drafting and page construction are performed by an automated pipeline; a person reviews before publication and is accountable for what appears.
That method has a specific weakness, and naming it is part of being honest about the method: an automated system can restate a source confidently while having misread it. The countermeasure applied here is that every substantive claim carries a link to its origin and a verification date, so no reader has to take this site's word for anything. Where two of a manufacturer's own pages disagree — which does happen, and one such case is documented on the compatibility reference — the disagreement is shown rather than smoothed over.
"Last verified" means the date the linked source page was read and the statements on this site were confirmed to match it. It does not mean the source has not changed since. Manufacturers revise these pages silently, so an old date is displayed rather than hidden, and should be read as a warning that the underlying page may have moved on.
Currently: nothing at all. There are no affiliate links, no advertising, no sponsorship, no paid placement and no sponsored inclusion anywhere on this site as of 2026-08-02. There is nothing to buy here and no outbound commercial link to click.
Intended: affiliate commission, disclosed. The plan is to earn commission from travel eSIM providers when a reader follows a link from this site and buys a plan. Applications to those programmes have not yet been made, which is the only reason no such links exist today. This is stated in advance deliberately — it would be easy to present the current absence of links as neutrality by principle, and it is not. It is neutrality by timing.
The commitment that applies when links do exist. Any affiliate link will be labelled as an affiliate link, and every page carrying one will carry a disclosure. Compatibility and troubleshooting facts are sourced from manufacturers rather than from providers precisely so that a commercial relationship with a provider cannot quietly change what this site says about hardware. If a commercial relationship ever conflicts with an accurate statement, the accurate statement is what gets published.
